Kashi Vishvanath Temple is one of the most famous Hindu temples dedicated to Lord Shiva. It is located in Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh, India. The temple stands on the western bank of the holy river Ganga, and is one of the twelve Jyotirlingas, the holiest of Shiva temples. The main deity is known by the name Vishvanatha or Vishveshvara meaning Ruler of The Universe. Varanasi city is also called Kashi, and hence the temple is popularly called Kashi Vishvanath Temple. Its name originally was Vishveshvara (broken down Vishwa: Universe, Ish: Lord; Vara: Excellent) or Lord of the Universe.
The temple has been referred to in Hindu scriptures for a very long time as a central part of worship in the Shaiva philosophy. It has been destroyed and re-constructed a number of times in history. The last structure was demolished by Aurangzeb, the sixth Mughal emperorwho constructed the Gyanvapi Mosque on its site. The current structure was built on an adjacent site by the Maratha ruler, Ahilya Bai Holkar of Indore in 1780.
Since 1983, the temple has been managed by the government of Uttar Pradesh. During the religious occasion of Shivratri, Kashi Naresh(King of Kashi) is the chief officiating priest.

After Breakfast, At 8:15am you'll take a 35-40 minute excursion to Sarnath, one of the most important centers for Buddhists. This is the very place where the Lord Buddha gave his first sermon after attaining enlightenment. Sarnath has numerous beautiful temples and its archaeological museum contains rare Buddhist artifacts. After, return to the city to see to see the Kashi Vishwanath Temple, Dashashwedh Ghat, Ramnagar Fort, Tulsi Manas Mandir, and the Mani Karnika Ghat, then enjoy lunch at one of the city's famous restaurants (at own). In the afternoon, visit the Banares Hindu University, one of India's best-known universities, and seat of Sanskrit learning. Take a walking tour of the colorful and throbbing bazaars of the city, famous for silk weaving and silk products. From here proceed to the ghats of River Ganges to witness a mesmerizing aarti ritual being performed by in unison by the priests. When the aarti is over, you will be driven to a classical dance center to see a dance show. After the dance show you will be returned to your hotel at around 8:00pm.
In early morning, your driver, will collect you from your hotel and drive you to the ghats of the River Ganges for a sunrise cruise on the sacred river ( at your cost ). Observe the rituals performed by the pilgrims who converge by the thousands every day from across India and other countries. Return to your hotel around 7:00am for breakfast, Check out from Hotel and drop at Rly Station / Airport.
